Robert Kiyosaki

Robert Kiyosaki’s financial philosophy was shaped early by two contrasting father figures: his biological “poor dad” and his best friend’s father, his “rich dad,” a successful entrepreneur who taught him real-world lessons about money. That contrast sparked a lifelong study of wealth, entrepreneurship, and investing.

Robert earned a BS from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and served as a Marine Corps helicopter pilot before working at Xerox, where he became a top salesperson. He later pursued entrepreneurship, experiencing both success and failure, lessons that sharpened his business mindset.

Influenced by futurist Buckminster Fuller, Robert refined his long-term view on economics and education. In 1997, he gained global recognition with Rich Dad Poor Dad, challenging traditional beliefs about money and promoting financial education, assets, and passive income. He later co-founded The Rich Dad Company, impacting millions worldwide through books, education, and media.

After graduating from Brown, he gained real-world market experience as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch in NYC. Wanting a healthier culture, he earned his MBA at Stanford during the dot-com boom, joined a Silicon Valley startup, and later became Head of Marketing for Yahoo! Finance, where he deeply understood everyday investors’ fears, hopes, and blind spots. He rose to VP of Marketing for North America, then left to co-found Peak Prosperity, educating millions. After the pandemic, he launched Thoughtful Money to deliver timely expert insights and connect people with trustworthy advisors, guiding $500M+ into smarter, more protected investing.
